If your body can handle the heat and doesn't mind hot climates, there's no age limit for those wishing to travel to the Atlas mountains. Anyone can go. Nevertheless, take into account that the Moroccan climate approaches sub-Saharan temperatures. For people who are not used to the heat, this can be quite hard to handle.
The Moroccan climate and weather is also quite varied. In the Mediterranean part, we have a subtropical climate with temperate winters and smooth, warm summers. As you go inland, you can feel the greater differences between the heat in summer and the cold in winter. The heat in the summer is largely determined by the winds. In the south and towards the western Sahara, it's a lot warmer and drier. Although, during January and February it can get quite cold. The rainy days arrive towards November and usually last until March.
In the area of Marrakech, in Spring we get strong sand storms. Make sure you are properly equipped as you could find yourself in the middle of a blizzard!
During the year, temperatures vary from between 20 to 30 degrees. In July the heat is similar to that of Spain. During the summer it’s advisable to leave a little early, and to return before midday. During the afternoon, the temperatures can be very hot - quite unpleasant. After six, the temperatures become pleasant again. In August, the extreme temperatures fall. |
