After some local incidents of crime in Casablanca, security and safety has improved remarkably; several police controls flank the highways and there are slogans at all the stations telling people that they cannot leave their luggage there. Probably the most common harrassment is the existence of false guides and the "commission agents" in the medinas of the larger cities, such as Marrakech. They are often just young kids, but their infantile skills allows them to deceive even the most careful and prudent traveller. The most important thing to do in these situations is remain calm and and wait till they stop or go away. Sometimes Moroccan adults, who witness this harassment, will reproach them. This normally solves the problem. |
