Essaouira is situated at about 170 km outside of the city of Marrakech, on the Atlantic Coast of Morocco.
Essaouira is a small coastal town that has an old, historic city centre otherwise known as the medina, that has been declared a patrimony to humanity by UNESCO. The medina is surrounded by pretty walls that protect the city from the winds and the sea´s fury.
The medina of Essaouira, although smaller than that of Marrakech, can offer you a variety in its market, everything from arts and crafts to silver products.
Another important place in this town is the marina, where you will se a large number of fishing boats, all painted the traditional blue color. Close to the marina, you will be able to enjoy meals of fresh fish just caught at fantastic prices.
