Marrakech, like many others, has many fascinating things to offer...though, just like in other main cities, you should always be a little more careful than when in the countryside. Some of the councils will warn you of the situations that you really should avoid. Others will simply come up with stories…the best thing to do is take our practical advice.
All walks of life live here; young people, adults, men, women, tourists, international travellers, adventurers. Nowadays, Marrakesh is a very cosmopolitan city. Having said that, it’s important to respect tradition, which is taken very seriously here; for example seeing women wearing the veil or burka can initially be quite shocking but you soon get used to it.
Also, religious tradition prevents outsiders from entering the mosques. This does'nt mean you can't stand outside and listen to the beautiful music and prayers coming from within.
The basic rule that you can take with you anywhere in the world is, respect the customs and habits of culture that you are visiting.
